Just like in any other team/department, within the recruitment domain there is often a discussion on who is now responsible for what and why. As a recruiter you do your best to fill the vacancy as well and as quickly as possible. However, the recruiter does not feel the pain in case there is a vacancy. The pain is felt by the hiring manager and his/her team. Extra work pressure, higher absenteeism, lower results and decreasing appreciation. The question is whether everyone does enough to fill the vacancy or do oprople quickly blame the recruiter. The hiring manager and the team will have to participate to alleviate the pain of having a job opening. Clear roles and responsibilities will help.
The RACI model was once developed to indicate internal players and their responsibilities. That is also great for recruitment. The RACI model is a matrix that is used to represent the roles and responsibilities of the people involved in a project or line work.
RACI in Recruitment
It will be clear that in order to achieve a good result, ditto interaction is required. My experience is that unfortunately it often leaves something to be desired for. People like to point to someone else during this phenomenon.
I often compare the situation with the travel industry. The hiring manager would like to book a trip and tells the recruiter that he/she wants to travel. The moment the hiring manager does not properly tell to the recruiter what their wishes are ..... the trip can go completely wrong. It is therefore also up to the recruiter to ask the hiring manager what the ideal trip should look like. No proper journey without a good briefing. Both benefit from good cooperation and clear briefing & agreements. Let the "Hiring Manager journey" lead to a beautiful "Candidate journey" and ultimately a super match. Ergo super "Recruiting Experience".
Good luck!
